Eggs NYC Style Recipe
A unique breakfast sandwich that captures the essence of New York City's culinary diversity.
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 2 slices of rye bread
- 1/4 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped green bell peppers
- 2 slices of American cheese or a sprinkle of shredded cheddar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hot sauce (optional)
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
- A pinch of everything bagel seasoning for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add olive oil or butter.
- Sauté onions and green bell peppers until soft and slightly caramelized.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Crack eggs into the skillet and gently scramble with the vegetables until just set.
- Toast the rye bread and spread cream cheese on one slice.
- Layer scrambled eggs and cheese on top of the cream cheese spread.
- Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on the eggs, top with the second slice of bread, and cut the sandwich in half.
